A recent study has shown that women who have been taking proton pump inhibitors (PPI’s) on a long term basis have a 25% increased rate in developing bone fractures as a result of taking Nexium. The current label suggested by the Food and Drug Administration indicates the risks that a person taking Nexium (or any other proton pump inhibitors). Previously this was not part of their labeling. The FDA still warns consumers to take necessary precautions such as seeking the advice of a physician before taking Nexium.
